As a responsible breeder, our goal at Iron Spirit Homestead is to continue improving our program with each generation. That means occasionally keeping or adding exceptional puppies—those with outstanding structure, health, and temperaments. But in order to ensure every dog receives the individual attention, love, and family life they deserve, we rely on dedicated Partner Homes (also called Guardian Homes).
A Partner Home is a special kind of family that receives one of our pick-of-the-litter puppies—a pup chosen for their outstanding quality and temperament—at a significantly discounted price. In return, they agree to partner with us in our breeding program. The dog lives with you as a loved and spoiled family member while we retain breeding rights for a set period of time (typically a few litters, or a few stud uses, depending on the dog’s role in our program).
As long as the dog passes all required health testing, you'll also receive compensation each time your dog is used in our program.
Because our dogs are family first. While we work to better the breed, we never want to sacrifice what matters most: our dogs’ happiness and well-being. Partner Homes allow us to grow our program without kennels or crowding, ensuring each dog enjoys a full, enriched life with a family of their own.
We take this partnership seriously and are selective to ensure it's a good fit for everyone, including the puppy. Requirements include:
Must live within 2 hours of us
Must be willing to achieve a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate
Must complete potty training and basic obedience
Must treat the dog as a cherished member of the family
We’ll support you along the way, and you’ll always have our guidance and community as part of the Iron Spirit Homestead family.
Application & Approval – If we feel it’s a good fit, you’ll be placed on a list for our next available partner pup.
Discounted Purchase – You’ll receive our top pick pup at a reduced price.
Health Testing – Health testing will be completed at the appropriate age (at our expense).
Breeding Program Participation – We will use the dog in our program as planned. Females will come back to us for short visits during breeding and whelping; males may only need to visit for a day or two at a time.
Retirement & Ownership Transfer – After the dog retires from our program, full ownership will be transferred to you (if not already), and the dog remains yours for life.
In some cases, we may place a fully trained, health-tested adult dog in a Partner Home. These dogs are already evaluated, prepared, and ready to participate in our breeding program right away. If you’re selected for one of these placements, you’ll still receive compensation when the dog is used in our program—without needing to go through the early puppy stages.
This is a wonderful option for families who want a well-mannered, already-trained companion but are still excited to partner with us and help continue the legacy of these incredible dogs.
If you’d like to learn more about becoming a Partner Home or apply for an upcoming pup, please reach out. We’d love to get to know you and see if it’s the right match!
