We’re the Pendletons — Abbi, Nate, and our growing family of two-legged and four-legged members. Iron Spirit Homestead is more than a breeding program; it’s our way of life. Nestled in a cozy corner of the world, our homestead is filled with laughter, muddy boots, dog toys, and the joy that comes from raising animals with love and purpose.
Abbi grew up on a small hobby farm, working with animals of all kinds and training with horses through the BLM’s TIP program. She studied Equine Assisted Therapy in college, dreaming of one day opening a therapeutic ranch. While that dream is still on the horizon, she now channels that same passion into the dogs we raise — with the full support of her husband, Nate, who shares her vision and brings steadiness and strength to the urban homestead.
Our small-scale, family-run breeding program is focused on raising Mini American Shepherds and Toy Aussies who are confident, healthy, and deeply loved from the very beginning. Our dogs are family. They sleep on our couches, join us on camping trips, and compete alongside us in dog sports. Our kids are growing up helping with chores, learning how to whelp puppies, and understanding what it means to care deeply for another life. Our home is full of movement, mess, and meaning — and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our dogs are always with us, enriching our lives in countless ways.
Each puppy is raised right inside our home using a custom curriculum designed to build strong foundations in socialization, potty training, and bonding. Our goal is to nurture well-rounded companions ready to thrive in their new homes. We work closely with our veterinarian and stand behind our program with a 2-year health guarantee. Health and genetics are the backbone of what we do. All of our breeding dogs are fully tested for hereditary conditions through DNA panels, and are also screened through OFA for hips, elbows, patellas, and eyes.
When you bring home a puppy from us, you’re not just getting a pet — you’re joining a family. We’re here for you for the long haul, ready to offer guidance, encouragement, and a community that understands just how much a good dog can change your life.
